Caddo River 5/30

Monday I woke up and looked on a map for a park to explore, and I found Allsop Park. I drove there and found a nature trail through the woods. While on the trail I saw all sorts of birds, chipmunks and even a deer. While walking I got a call from a couchsurfer who tolde he plans on floating down a river so I said I'd love to tagalong. I went and met him and his roommate at his place and we met up with some girls and went to the river. By the time we got beer and ice and got there it was too late to rent tubes, so we just swam in a swimming hole. It was a great way to spend Memorial Day. We went back to Alex's after eating at Capital Hotel. I just woke up and took a shower, now I'm just relaxing.
Always Grateful,
James

Sunday night at Riverfest. 5/29/2011

After drinking at the Flying Saucer I checked outDigital Underground, who actually had a pretty good dj. Then I went to Trout Fishing in America on the kids stage. I stayed there a good half hour before heading back to the stage where Nelly would be. The crowd was packed, and the fireworks took forever, but nelly finally came on.
Nelly played nothing but hits, the second song was EI, then a sick Batter Up into Air Force Ones. He played staples such as Country Grammar, Hot In Here, and Over and Over. He invited audience members onstage for the last few songs. Overall a great show, and the only Riverfest show I saw in entireity.

Love Beer 5/29/2011

After the bakery I dropped off my computer at the car and headed downtown. I walked around a bit before going to the Peabody Hotel to see the ducks. After that I went to Hiefer International's headquarters, which is the greenest building in Arkansas. I took a tour of the building and learned some interesting facts. Now I'm at the Flying Saucer pub where I've been for a couple of hours. Diamond Bear beer=Good.

Community Bakery 5/29/2011

I woke up this morning around 9 o'clock and went upstairs to wash up in Sarah and Ryan's house and let my phone charge a little bit. They were leaving to go to Pinnacle Mountain, and I left to go walk downtown. I walked to the local Brewery, Diamond Bears, but when I got there they weren't open yet. So I walked the mile and a half back to my car and was gonna grab some headphones when a homeless man named Dwayne came up and asked me for a cigarette. I told him I don't smoke, but I gave him some crackers and a beer. I asked him where a good place to get internet would be, and he took me to place called The Community Bakery and Cafe. Right as we were walking an old ladies car broke down in the street, and Dwayne and I pushed her to a parking lot a block away. I just got done eating their Cheesy Potato soup, and it was quite good! Now I'm gonna head back downtown to look around, and then at 3 I'm meeting Sarah and Ryan at the Brewery.
P.S. I forgot to mention in my first post that there is this wonderfully amazing food at Riverfest that consists of 2 pieces of bacon deep fried and then covered in chocolate. It tastes like such a good heart attack, I may have to get one again tonight
Went and caught Charlie Daniels for about 30 min. Great show. I left right after Legemd of Wooley Swamp. I headed to Barenaked Ladies where I met Sarah and Ryan, with whom I have been hanging out all night. I was at BNL for around 45 min before heading back to CDB. When I got there Devil Went Donw to Georgia just started and I boogied to that until the show was over. I then went to my car and to meet Sarah and Ryan for pizza at Vino's. We then went to their place and the Midtown Bar. I'm now in my car about to go to sleep. Goodnight.

Today I woke up and went shopping at walmart to get some canned food and use the bathroom. Afterwards I headed towards Maumelle Park to look for a camping spot, but they wanted 20 a night with 2 night min. So I continued on to Pinnacle Mountain State Park. There I walked around a bit til I drove to the base of pinnacle mountain. I decided to run to the top, and it was a torturous climb. Round trip was about 3.5 miles with 756 feet of climb. Coming down was easy, even though I slid a few times cause I was going too fast. Then I headed to Riverfest where I've seen Pat Green for a while and Blue October for a little bit. Now I'm at the car getting another drink before I head back to catch more music.
Later.

A Single Step 05/27/11

Well, I'm back on the road!!! And I still never updated this with All Good from last year. I didn't keep this up at all during the year, but I'll give you a quick rundown of the big shows I went to: I did Underground Sound at Camp Zoe, and Rabbit in the Moon was one of the trippiest shows I've ever seen. Then for my 21st birthday I did 3 nights of Furthur at Red Rocks. I don't even need to say how awesome that was! I did Hulaween with String Cheese, STS9 for New Years, and Tiesto for Mardi Gras. Plus I went to nola a bunch for BASSiK and the Den.
Alright, enough about last year, NOW is the time! I spent all week moving out of my apartment and getting ready for this trip. I left around 2:30PM and made it to Little Rock a little after 6 and found parking around Riverfest. I walked around a little while and the festival is very similar to the Red River Revel. You have to trade your money in for tickets to buy food and beer and the like. I got a pretty good bar-b-que sandwich (better be for $6) and a beer and headed towards The Bud Light stage to get a spot for Widespread Panic. Jerry Joseph opened for WP, and he wasn't bad. Panic came on around 7:40 and opened with the classic Holden Oversoul. It was a fun show overall, but I was exhausted from such a long week and soo little sleep, so I left near the end of the second set. I watched Poison with Bret Michaels for a little while, but I don't get what all the fuss was about. Woohoo he has fire. yay. rock on dude. Lame!
After it was over I went to find a WalMart to sleep in the parking lot and fell fast asleep with the radio on.

I woke up today to a dead battery, but luckily I had cables and someone gave me a jump. Now I've been sitting in McDonald's for over an hour and a half using the internet.
I'll post again tomorrow!!
Love, James
